The contest for the fastest car on the Nurburgring racing track in Germany is still on, and General Motors soon after releasing its new model of the 2012 Corvette ZR1 made no delays in trying out the car at that track.
The car provides a power of 638HP and has been supplied with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires on which it made a record of 7:19.63 which is around six seconds lesser than the record of the previous Corvette model made in 2008 (7:26.40).
The record also beats Nissan Motors record of the GT-R’s lap run of 7:24.22, even though there are reports that the record by Nissan was made in not so ideal conditions. Engineers from General Motors say that testing their car in the tough track conditions of the Nurburgring Racing Track was a very important step in testing the vehicle.
