Evacutation after Gas leak in Fyshwick – Canberra

ESA were busy tonight at an Elgas storage facility on Geelong Street, Fyshwick investigating a gas leak from a gas cylinder. ESA also reported that about 60 people nearby were evacuated as a precaution.

Latest update from ESA

9:30pm Monday 31 January 2011 – Update -  Gas leak has been found and isolated from the cylinder. Cause due to recent hot conditions.

Crews notified following an Emergency Triple Zero (000) call at 8.38pm by members of a nearby Bridge club. ACT Fire Brigade soon to depart the scene.
