Transport NSW goes Twitter crazy to provide commuters with traffic updates
Posted on October 1, 2010 by by valerirojas
Transport NSW has joined Twitter and will be delivering up-to-the-minute public transport updates direct to your PC, laptop or smart phone device.
The popular 131500 info line and website will go viral this week, with regular bus, train and ferry updates throughout the morning and afternoon peak on Twitter.
Twitter will keep people informed about whether services are running on time, how to avoid delays and remind passengers about scheduled disruptions due to major events or track work.
NSW Commuters can follow ‘@131500trains’, ‘@131500buses’ and ‘@131500ferries’ on Twitter to get access to the latest service information between 6am and 7pm weekdays.
This is a great initiative by Transport NSW, let’s just hope they also use other social media tools as not everyone in NSW uses Twitter, however this is a good way to encourage people to use the mini blogging social network.
