Apply to be part of the new Victoria Electric Vehicle trial
Posted on October 7, 2010 by by valerirojas
The Victoria Government $5 million trial of electric vehicles has now started and are asking the community to be part of it.
As part of the trial the Victorian government is seeking 180 households to try out an electric vehicle for three months.
An RACV online ballot for community participation is now open for applications. To apply, you’ll need a valid Victorian driver licence.
Those taking part in the trial will report back on their experience.
It will look at drivers’ experiences in Victoria’s diverse network, and help the government plan the types of charging infrastructure that will be needed and in which locations
The trial will provide the vehicle charging point and pay for insurance; the household will pay the cost of electricity, which will be less than they would pay for petrol.
Around 60 vehicles, provided by Blade Electric Vehicles, EDay Life, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Toyota, will be used in the trial. Most of the vehicles will be small passenger cars.
Some electric light commercial vehicles will be used in freight fleets. Electric two-wheelers that are currently being used in fleets will also be tested.
More than 50 companies, organisations and universities will participate in the trial.
Visit the Department of Transport website to find out more this and other projects that are part of the State Government’s $38 billion Victorian Transport Plan

Hello
I am currently a director of a publically listed company on the ASX which specialises in the production of electric scooters and soon to be manafactured electric UTVs .We distribute them globally to such people as the Spanish postal services etc.I will be getting my own electric scooter in 2 weeks when 120 arrive from our factory, most of which are pre sold.I would be happy to be part of the EV testing program as i know the speed at which this new form of transport is about to hit the world as it has already hit China where ONLY electric scooters are able to be sold in Beijung and Shanghai.ie No petrol allowed.Australia is so far behind in this regard it is a joke.We dont even have any rebate system in place for scooters
Sincerily
