Emergency Services having a busy day in Canberra – Wet Weather

ACT ESA are having a very busy day due to the strong winds and wet weather in Canberra today. Saturday 4th September 2010.

:10pm Sunday 5 September 2010 –
Update 14 on wet weatherACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES volunteers have received a total of 370 calls for assistance since 6am yesterday due to the wet weather.
Crews confident of finishing remaining jobs tonight.
Residents who require assistance can call the ACTSES on 132 500.
5:40pm Sunday 5 September 2010 -
Update 13 on wet weatherACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES volunteers have received a total of 360 calls for assistance since 6am yesterday due to wet weather.
Crews will continue working through the evening to complete outstanding jobs.
Residents who require assistance can call the ACTSES on 132 500.
3:50pm Sunday 5 September 2010 -
Update 12 on wet weatherACT FIre Brigade and ACTSES have received 328 calls for assistance since 6am yesterday due to wet and windy weather.
Crews continuing to work with trees and branches down.

8:50am Sunday 5 September 2010 -
Update 10 on wet weatherACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES have received approx 250 calls for help since 6am yesterday due to wet and windy weather.
This morning mostly trees and branches down with minor damage reported.

6:30am Sunday 5 September 2010 –
Update nine on wet weatherACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES have received 196 calls for assistance since 6am yesterday due to wet and windy weather.
Volunteer ACTSES crews are due to recommence work by 8am.
Residents who require assistance can call the ACTSES on 132 500.
12:40am Sunday 5 September 2010 -
Update eight on wet weatherACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES have received 185 calls for assistance since 6 am yesterday due to wet and windy weather.
Crews currently on Lipscomb St, Macgregor attending to a large tree blocking road.
Crews will aim to continue working into the early hours of the morning.
Residents who require assistance can call the ACTSES on 132 500.
9:30pm Saturday 4 September 2010 –
Update seven on wet weatherACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES have received 138 calls for assistance since 6 o’clock this morning.
ACTSES volunteers are planning to stand down by midnight once remaining jobs are completed.
Majority of calls today have been for trees and branches down and water leaking into roofs.
Residents who require assistance can call the ACTSES on 132 500.
7:00pm Saturday 4 September 2010 –
Update six on wet weatherACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES volunteers have received 135 calls for assistance since 6 o’clock this morning due to wet weather.
24 jobs are currently outstanding and crews will continue to work through the evening.

5:55pm Saturday 4 September 2010 –
Update five on wet weatherACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES volunteers have received 115 calls for help since six o’clock this morning due to wet weather.
Crews currently on site at Wakefield Ave, Ainslie attending to a tree across a vehicle with significant damage.

3:50pm Saturday 4 September 2010 – Update four on wet weather
ACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES have received 90 calls for assistance since six o’clock this morning following wet weather.
ACT Rural Fire Service volunteers have also been asked to assist with the removal of some trees and branches.
Currently teams are on scene attending to a tree on a house on Petterd Street, Page and Araba Street, Aranda with minor roof damage.
2:00pm Saturday 4 September 2010 – Update three on wet weather
ACT Fire Brigade and ACTSES have received in excess of 50 calls for assistance following wet weather since six o’clock this morning.
Minor damage reported.
Some branches and trees have come down in some areas and minor flooding at a causeway on McCulloch Street, Curtin.
