Learner caught drunk and 70kph over the speed limit, Australia

A female L-plate driver was clocked travelling 70kph over the speed limit in Moe this morning, Victoria Police reports.

Police detected the 18-year-old travelling at 130kph in a 60kph zone along Lloyd Street about 12.30am.

The Drouin woman was intercepted by the Moe Divisional van before she furnished an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.093 per cent.

  • There were no “L” plates displayed and the vehicle was unregistered.
  • The owner of the vehicle, the front seat passenger, did not possess a current driver’s licence
  • The vehicle was immediately impounded and the driver’s learner’s permit was immediately suspended.
  • She is expected to be charged on summons with several traffic, drug and alcohol related matters.
