Is Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard finally using Twitter?

Posted on July 4, 2010 by by valerirojas

So has the new Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard finally joined Twitter? for the past hour I have seen many tweets going around about it but is it really her? the Twitter user name is @juliagillard.

Her first post was seen about an hour ago saying: “I’ve decided it’s time to take the Twitter plunge! Hopefully I’ll master it. JG.” @juliagillard is also following 50 users and already has 1, 405 twitter followers. Julia Gillard’s name hasn’t become a Twitter trend today just yet but I am sure it will by the end of the day.

Could this really be her? well there is one way to know about it and at the moment it isn’t showing under her Twitter page, it’s called a Twitter ‘Verified Account’ feature. This feature is shown under most celebrities and personalities using Twitter.

So maybe we just need to tell her PR, media and web team to add that to her account, well that’s if @juliagillard is really the Prime Minister.

Maybe we’ll know more in the next few hours when other media sources start covering the story but what do all the Twitter people think about it? is this really the Prime Minister?
