Posted on July 13, 2010 by by thedude
According to the latest ACT Government media release, Australia’s first public nurse-led Walk-in Centre had been well received by the Canberra community, with more than 2400 people seeking advice or treatment since it opened to the public on the 18th of May 2010.
“The Walk-in Centre model of care provides a safe and accessible option for the ACT community when seeking advice and treatment for minor health conditions,” ACT Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher said.
“The greatest users of the Walk-in Centre service so far have been people aged 18 to 35 years. People with respiratory tract infections have been the most common type of presentation to the centre, followed by people seeking treatment for minor wounds. ”
“Word of mouth is spreading about the service as people use the Walk-in Centre and then recommend it on to others,” Ms Gallagher said.
The Walk-in Centre is open 7am- 11pm, seven days a week, no appointment necessary. They are located at the Canberra Hospital (enter from the Yamba Drive entrance and follow the signs). http://www.walkincentre.act.gov.au/
So to all Canberrans out there, have you visited the Canberra Walk-in Centre yet? how did you find their customer service? and did you have a good or bad experience?
