Traffic delays in Newtown, Sydney 04.06.10

NSW Police is reporting delays in Newtown this afternoon an Iconic Sydney hotel fire.
Police are urging motorists to avoid King Street, Newtown, following a hotel fire near Newtown Railway Station.
Emergency services were called to the hotel on King Street, near Enmore Road, about 3pm after reports of a fire in the basement. A number of people were evacuated from the building.
That part of King Street is now closed to traffic and diversions are in place.
Southbound traffic on King Street is being directed onto Wilson Street, towards Erskineville, while northbound traffic is being diverted onto Enmore Road.
Major traffic delays are expected and police urge motorists to avoid the area if possible. Motorists who need to use the area are asked to be patient while the traffic diversions are in place.
