India is known for its poor drinking water, but there are several things worse than a dirty water supply.  For instance, no water supply.  

 

Dang, a district of the Indian state, Gujarat, has the largest amount of annual rainfall in Gujarat.  It would only make sense that the people of this region would have an adequate amount of water.

 

Unfortunately the opposite is true, and the fault can often be blamed on the poor infrastructure of the region due to continuous apathy from the state.  

 

There are four rivers that flow into Dang, yet they often go dry.  Dams are built along the rivers to collect and store water for future use.  However, these dams are not constructed properly, and it was even surmised by Gujarat, an IdiaUnheard correspondent, that the dams are built to support the laborers, with little thought involved about the welfare of the community. 

 

In a short film, Gujarat shows us that many of the ground pumps intended for public use were never set up properly.  These pumps are now only taunting reminders of the water the public does not have access to.
