ACT Children’s Plan re-write and re-launch
Posted on June 18, 2010 by by emd
The ACT Children’s Plan was re-launched today. You can read the plan here. The Children’s Plan is all about what Canberra needs to do to be a child-friendly city.
A big chunk in the middle of the report, with lots of “Key Actions” listed, is just a re-publish of the previous version of the plan. Some of those Key Actions have already been completed. So while it may look like the ACT Government is planning on doing lots of work in the next four years, be aware that quite a lot of the work has already been completed. There is also nothing in the report that gives me confidence that they will do any more work towards completing the Key Actions. There’s no disincentive for failing to follow through on the Plan.
Would be interested to know what you think.

I agree! I was at the launch and the Minister spoke only of what had already been done, nothing of what the ACT Gov. would be committing to next. Her shining moment though was walking out of the room whilst a group of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children performed a dream time story. Well done Minister, this is how NOT to show our kids they really matter, what a role model you are!!!
