ABS brings you Google Motion Charts for House Prices, Census and more
Posted on June 9, 2010 by by valerirojas
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Beta Works website has launched a new beta project where they are using Google Motion Charts to provide users with better data display information.
Google Motion Chart is a pretty handy sophisticated multi-dimensional analysis tool that can help you analyse your data in five dimensions.
The ABS says they are exploring this new tool because there is an increasing demand from their users to explore several indicators over time, discover trends and graphically compare data. By experimenting with innovative ways of visualising ABS statistics they want to excite, engage and increase statistical literacy for our users using Google Motion Charts.
What the charts cover:
- House Price Indexes – Eight Capital Cities Median House Prices (unstratified) for March Quarter 2002 to September Quarter 2009
- Population Projections Using Series B for Years 2006 to 2056
- Australian Historical Population for Years 1788 to 2007
- 2006 Census Tables: Australia – Industry of Employment by Sex
If you like this product then provide the ABS with your feedback as this would mean they could release it in the future. ABS Google Motion Charts

Dear Valeri
Thankyou for posting an article concerning the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). Several times within your article you refer to the ABS as the ABC instead of the ABS. We would much appreciate the correction.
Thankyou for taking the time to look at our website and statistical tools.
Thanks,
Mary-Anne
