Love Forty Percent

Posted on May 13, 2010 by by emd

Do you love Canberra? Would you also love a sustainable future? Then check out the new Love Forty Percent website!

A loose coalition of concerned Canberra organisations plan to launch their campaign on World Environment Day, 5 June, to pressure the ACT Government to aim for a 40% reduction in carbon emissions by 2020. Stanhope has previously said he’s committed to a 25-40% reduction, but the ACT Government has only commissioned modelling on a 25% reduction. Without our feedback, what reason do they have to go for the 40% target that is needed? And it is do-able – a standing committee made up of Liberal, Labor, and Greens MLAs has said that it can be achieved in Canberra.

Don’t wait for Kevin Rudd, Jon Stanhope, or any other politician to commit to responsible environmental policy. Take action now!
