Inner North Community Fair
Posted on April 24, 2010 by by emd
The ACT Department of Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Water have organised an Inner North Community Fair on Sunday 16 May, 11am til 3pm, at Hawdon Oval in Dickson.
Apart from having a great time and seeing what else happens in our local community to support the environment, they’d like people to check out the proposed wetlands development in Dickson.
The clothes swap will be fun, and Playdates for the Planet are running a recycled craft competition and story-telling for the kids. You can enjoy organic food, listen to local music thanks to the Canberra Musicians Club, see great local designers and entertainers, recycle stuff, check out eco-friendly lifestyle options, and you could even win prizes for riding your bike to the event!
UPDATE:
The food stalls are being supplied with biodegradable and compostable food packaging from a small local company, Greenwares.
2pm will be judging for the kids craft competition. So if you want a chance to win eco-friendly toys donated by my shop, Brindabella Baby, leave enough time for the kids to make a frog, bird, insect, or wetlands plant.
2:15pm is storytime for the kids – come along to hear a brand new, unpublished, locally authored children’s story about wetlands.
Will post details of other organisations involved as I hear about it.
