Australian Web Startup ‘Yoink’ nominated for a Webby Award 2010
Posted on April 14, 2010 by by Valeri
I am happy to report that Australian startup ‘Yoink‘ has been nominated for a Webby Award under the green and society category. This is the first time as far as we know that a Canberra start-up makes it to the international award. Yoink also seems to be the only Australian website to be nominated for the awards this year.
The Canberra startup was launched last November and it is a free service for web and iPhone.  Yoink allows you to give away things you don’t need and also find stuff in your community that you want and it is all for free.
‘Yoink is the easiest way to get free things from people near you and give things away you don’t need. It only takes a minute so just get started!’
Are you wondering what the The Webby Award is? it basically is the Oscars of the Internet or as Wikipedia would say “It is an international award presented annually by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences for excellence on the Internet with categories in websites, interactive advertising, online film and video, and mobile”. Wikipedia
So what are you waiting for? visit Yoink and share things with your community and also visit the Webby Awards site and vote for them.

This is really interesting. Kind of like craigslist without the creeps.

That is too cool! I’ve been using Yoink and didn’t even know it was a Canberra startup. I’ve voted for them…
