ACT Policing is warning home owners to be aware of an insulation scam in Canberra after three men attempted to sell insulation to a home owner in Isabella Plains -Â Canberra, under the now discontinued Home Insulation Program.
“Police is  reminding the public that the Home Insulation Program ceased on February 19, 2010 and there is no longer a government rebate available for the installation of home insulation.”
On Tuesday (February 23) an Isabella Plains family reported having three men come to their home and ask them to sign documents in relation to home insulation installation.Â
Whilst at the home one of the men is reported to have acted inappropriately towards the 74-year-old female occupant of the home.Â
The three men were described by the family as having dark skin, with the male who acted inappropriately also described as approximately 30-years-old, around 5â10â (178cm) tall and with a medium build.
If you are approached by anyone claiming that the rebate is still available, or anyone offering deals that seem âtoo good to be trueâ please contact police immediately on 131-444.
