]]> By: Tahlia Swale http://www.typeboard.com/2010/03/family-of-four-escape-a-house-fire-in-amaroo-canberra/comment-page-1/#comment-5956 Tahlia Swale Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:43:27 +0000 http://www.typeboard.com/?p=6571#comment-5956 that was my house. it was terrifying. the damage is actually pretty bad. the roof has caved in and everything is badly smoke damaged. we woke up to the smell of burning plastic and my dad went to the back sliding door and saw the trees in the backyard were well iluminated by the flames on the roof. my mother woke me and my older brother and told us "get up and get out! fire on the roof! get out of the house!!" it wasnt the best thing to do but i stood up and looked around thinking should i grab budgie or not. in the end mum shooed me out the front door. all we had was the clothes on our backs. and a 5am that isnt much.... that was my house. it was terrifying.
