Facebook Reminds Australians of Content Moderation
Posted on March 30, 2010 by by valerirojas
Social Network Giant Facebook has sent a message to all Australian administrators reminding them of the different options available to Page administrators to help you moderate the content on your Page. This comes a few days after Queensland Premier ANNA Bligh challenged Facebook to take responsibility for offensive material posted on tribute sites for murdered children Elliott Fletcher and Trinity Bates.
Facebook makes it clear that they want to make the world more open and connected by giving people the tools to share and communicate with people around them. However they also remind users that they have the power to moderate their Facebook pages if offensive material such as photos or videos are posted on them.
Below is an e-mail that came to me this morning from Facebook.
I wonder how many people in Australia and outside Australia received this message as well? are you one of them?

I never received a letter, and I am in North America, nor have any of my clients.
If anyone has gotten one and doesn’t want to deal with having to provide moderation services, the option of outsourced moderation is available.
