The 21-year-old man from Bruce, will lose 6 demerit points for the high-range speeding offence and a further 6 for failing to stop at the two red lights. He will be fined a total of $2346. ACT Police
“ACT Policing’s RAPID team on patrol through Belconnen this morning (Wednesday, February 24) detected the male driver travelling at 102km/h in the 40km/h school zone in College Street outside Radford College, then observed the same driver run two red lights without stopping.”
So is losing his license and paying a $2346 fine enough for what this man has done? some friends reckon jail time should be implemented even if the person didn’t actually crash or kill any one. What are your thoughts?

He is an idiot and shouldn’t get his license back for at least ten years.

The problem is that he will claim to the courts that he needs his car to get to work and will get his ‘restricted’ license back – a simple process in the ACT.

Incorrect.
Legislation in the ACT only allows for the provision of a restricted licence in the case of a DUI conviction. If the Licence is revoked for “dangerous driving” then there is no provision for a restricted licence.
