The Victoria Police Museum will be opening a new exhibition today called “Ambush: Ned Kelly and the Stringybark Creek murders“.
The Exhibition will showcase never before seen objects such as a map hand-drawn by the sole surviving police officer of the Kelly Gangâs Stringybark Creek murders.
Ambush: Ned Kelly and the Stringybark Creek murders will provide an opportunity for audiences to re-examine the story of the Kelly Gang through the voices of people who were directly involved.Victoria Police collections manager, Liz Marsden said the exhibition would shed new light on the immediate aftermath of the police murders.
âIt will provide us with unique insights into how the community and police dealt with this dramatic turn of events,â she said.
Also on display for the first time will be Ned Kellyâs blood-stained cartridge bag recovered by Sergeant Steele at the Glenrowan siege in 1880.
The exhibition will run from January 4 to June 25, 2010, Monday to Friday from 10am until 4pm.
Location: The Museum is located on the first floor (Lower Concourse) of the World Trade Centre, 637 Flinders Street, Melbourne. This building is adjacent to the Victoria
