Spring Design Alex eReader Already Has More Than 1,000,000 Google Books In Catalog.

Spring Design is a fairly new company, which has decided to bring the world another eReader. Like the Barnes and Noble Nook, the Alex eReader by Spring Design has dual screens. The upper screen is 6 inches in black and white, with the lower screen in a 3.5 touch screen LCD color design. The device comes with WiFi and a mobile network 3G cover. The difference between the Nook and the Alex comes down to the software the devices are running on.Â
The Alex is using Google Android as its operating system. One can imagine that the Alex will be a top competitor in the eReader world. First of all, Google is a powerhouse that often has successful ideas. Their team up with the Alex Reader will certainly get them into play, especially because the reader already has 1,000,000 Google Books in the catalog.Â
This new eReader debuted at the CES show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kindle still had the most visits, but the Alex and Spring Design cannot be upset. They were one of the most popular devices. The fact that Google has partnered with them to bring about a million eBooks available to customers is just a starting point.
Google books have been online for quite some time. They offer you a look at various best sellers, study guides, and more. In fact for free you can find about a million books that are almost complete in their offerings. One thing Google books will do is give you the book to examine if you really want to buy it. They might take out ten to a hundred pages of the book. If you are convinced you want the book you are then referred to the purchase section.Â
Alex is going to take advantage of these downloads for preview, as well as the purchase catalog for their customers. Google is not the only place that will be supplying books to the eReader though. Google is just the starting point for free eBooks like Jane Austen, Bram Stoker and other literature most popular in school.Â
The Alex Reader has also made a partnership with Borders. Borders is one of the larger booksellers in the United States. Borders competes with Barnes and Nobles, and to a lesser degree with the southern chain Books a Million. The new reader from Spring Design has made a deal with Borders for their eBooks. For those who purchase one of these electronic readers they will not only have instant access to the Google Books but also any of the Borders eBooks available. Concrete details regarding the cost and release date of Spring Design’s eBook has yet to be confirmed. However, the suspected release date is February 22, 2010 at a $399 price tag.
