Is your local ABC Website getting more social?
Posted on January 30, 2010 by by Valeri
Your Local ABC crew has used Twitter and Facebook yesterday to announce a new redesign of their local ABC websites and by the sounds of it they are planning on making their content more sociable and user-friendly.
“Your new site will be brighter and easier to read, and the content you want will be easier to find..” ABC said yesterday.
They will be providing visitors with more local, national and international content and they will also have a local event listing feature, which probably means they will allow visitors to submit their events online for inclusion in their listing, but I could be wrong.
Some of their improvements will be:
- More local news as well as state, national and international headlines on the home page, making it easier to stay in touch;
- Local event listings to let you know what’s happening in your area;
- A dynamic radio schedule to let you know what’s happening on your local ABC station and give you easy access to your favourite programs online, and;
- AÂ weather section that’s rich in detail and offers improved features like better radar images.
“The design changes aim to make your local site easier to use, whether you like to browse for the latest local information or absorb yourself in multimedia-rich articles, video stories and photo galleries.
They also pave the way for new features in the pipeline – features that will make it easier for you to share and connect with others in your community.”
So is your local ABC planning on moving into a more sociable web? what do they mean by share and connect with others? will visitors be able to create their own profiles and invite others? or are we just talking about bookmarking links to their content? or are we even talking about using Facebook and Twitter connect type of features? or will we see a more user customizable web experience similar to Igoogle? and I am wondering if we will see any real-time feeds?
Either way it seems that your Local ABC is making some improvements to their website and by the sounds of it the change is just around the corner. ABC New look
So tell me, what features do you think your new local ABC website should have? and will this new look be better than their current local sites?
