By the way, my business runs for the purpose of supporting fair trade programs in developing countries and local handmade crafters, and providing access to information and products for parents wanting to raise their children as eco-friendly as possible. The shop provides space for community groups to meet, sponsors events, and is used as a resource hub. It's not a high-profit multi-national. However there is a strong differentiation between being involved in a (community/public) cause and promoting it for its general benefit and promoting a cause specifically for your personal and financial gain. Thus by not declaring your interests, nor clearly indicating that the article is a (republication of a) "media release", I believe that such conduct was highly unethical in nature, bordering on shill and unconscionable business conduct. I still maintain that a byline clearly declaring your interest/affiliation would have been the most appropriate solution and would not have in any way detracted from the content of the article. Perhaps next time you may even consider supporting the sites you use by buying some paid advertising space when you want to drum up some extra revenue for yourself. I have no problem with your business and volunteer interests.
