Train Station Fire – Melbourne
Posted on December 7, 2009 by by Captcha
“Detectives are investigating a suspicious fire that disrupted trains and caused extensive damage to Gardenvale railway station this morning.” Victoria Police reports
“Victoria Police had attended Martin Street earlier in the morning after receiving numerous complaints of youth causing trouble but failed to locate anyone in the area.
A witness reported seeing a few people leaving the south side of the platform around 5am and heard fire trucks at the station shortly after.
Police are treating the fire as suspicious and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything out of the ordinary at the station between 2-5am.
Trains are up and running but will not stop at Gardenvale, with buses being utilised between North Brighton and Elsternwick to transport passengers.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppers.com.au.
