Smoke over Canberra is coming from Michelago, NSW
Posted on December 18, 2009 by by valerirojas
The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) advise Canberra residents that the smoke over Canberra this morning, particularly on the southside, is coming from the bushfire burning near Michelago north of Cooma.
“There are no fires burning in the ACT at this time and there is no threat to the ACT from this fire.” ESA reports.
TweetThe ACT will this morning send a taskforce of eight heavy tankers and a commander from the ACT Rural Fire Service to assist NSW.
This will replace one ACT RFS heavy tanker that was used on the fireground overnight and follows the initial deployment yesterday of three tankers, two helicopters, a GIS mapping specialist and an ACT Ambulance Service 4WD ambulance with two intensive care paramedics.
