Mary Porter MLA media gremlins strike again!
Posted on October 20, 2009 by by jr
Poor old Mary Porter can’t seem to win a trick with her attempts at getting her media coverage right at the moment. Her ongoing problems have been reported on this site previously both HERE and HERE.
Well it looks like the media gremlins have struck yet again…

Another innocuous looking media release… like most releases from Ms. Porter this one reads “warm and fuzzy” (full of irrelevance for a back-bencher using the official ministerial media release service in an attempt to attract media attention) except when you work out that the event actually occurred about 8 months ago!
The give-away line…
Ms Porter said last Tuesday in the Legislative Assembly, whilst moving a motion in support of the International Day for Mother Languages.
Yes, the Legislative Assembly was sitting last Tuesday, except Ms. Porter spoke about Supermarket Competition Policy not Education and Languages at that sitting.
According to the ACT Government Hansard the speech she mentions in her release actually occurred on 11 February 2009 at precisely 5:12pm http://www.hansard.act.gov.au/hansard/2009/week02/675.htm. This means the media release should have gone out some time in the 7 days following that event – in FEBRUARY.
This must be starting to get quite embarrassing as you can blame the public servants for “computer errors” once, perhaps twice (and I have been told with good authority that the individuals responsible for maintaining the Ministerial Media Release web site were ordered to check over the site for potential errors with a fine tooth comb), but the ability to repeat the problems over and over must take some real effort!
