The 35-year-old man was arrested after he threatened Yarra Tram staff with a tomahawk on monday night, 7th October. Melbourne
Police said the man was seated at the rear of a tram travelling west in Flinders Street when several Authorised Officers from Yarra Trams approached the man and asked him to produce his ticket. Instead the man produced a tomahawk from his jacket and made threats towards one of the officers.
The Yarra Tram staff took other passengers to the opposite end of the tram and waited for the police to arrive.
The tram then came to a stop just west of Spring Street and police arrested the man and recovered the weapon without incident.
