The ABC reports that the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra remains one of the world’s leading universities ranked at number 17 and is Australia’s leading university followed by the Univeristy of Melbourne and University of Sydney both ranked at number 36.

The results come from the London’s Times Higher Education 2009 ranking.

The top 5 universities in the world are; Harvard University, US; University of Cambridge, UK; Yale University, US; University College London, UK; and equal 5th are Imperial College London, UK; and University of Oxford, UK.
