ACT Association For Advancing Disabled Sport Inc. – Fundraising Lunch & Auction

Posted on October 5, 2009 by by jr

The ACT Association for Advancing Disabled Sport Inc. will be holding their fund-raising lunch and auction on 29 October 2009.

The organisation is looking for contributions to raise funds for ACT people with a disability to help them at work or engage in their favourite recreation or sport.

Due to the tough economic times, it is becoming increasingly difficult to raise funds to make these small but significant, and in some case life changing grants occur. The organisation is looking toward the wider community for assistance in their fund raising efforts.

A copy of the invitation is reproduced below and if you are in the position to contribute you are urged and encouraged to do so. At the lunch an announcement will be made as to who were the successful applicants for the recently advertised 5 X $1,000 grants.

PROJECT FOR A LIFETIME

ACTAADS Inc is heir of the ACT Paralympic Council, formed 1994.

Because the Council aimed to help ACT residents with a disability participate in as wide a range of community activities as possible, a decision was made in 2002 to change the name so as to better reflect that objective.

Since their founding, the Council and ACTAADS have helped many ACT Athletes with a disability reach the heights,

Some have distinguished themselves as sporting champions at the Paralympic Games, National and world title events.

Names that Spring to mind:

  • Siobhan Paton – swimmer
  • Gemma Dashwood – runner
  • Murray Goldsmith – shotput

Others have achieved success in:

  • Writing
  • Music
  • Computing

Your support will help this success continue
