ACT Deputy Chief Minister, Katy Gallagher MLA, officially launched the New Australian e-Government Technology Cluster based at National ICT Australia (NICTA) Canberra. 8th September 09
“The new e-Government Cluster is a partnership between NICTA, the ACT Government, several major international companies, innovative ACT companies and other research organisations to develop and demonstrate novel e-Government solutions.”
“NICTA has a strong track record in e-Government research and has been working for some time with a number of government agencies in Canberra to help improve the performance of IT systems and processes. These include the Department of Innovation, the Department of Health and Ageing, the Australian Research Council and IP Australia,” Ms Gallagher said.
“The ACT Government recognises the unique opportunity presented by NICTA’s eGovernment research here in Canberra, which has the potential to make Canberra the e-Government centre of the country and the region.”
So can Canberra become the  e-Government centre of Australia? does Canberra have enough skills, knowledge, experience and understanding of e-Government?
And will this mean Canberra will become the National Broadband Network headquarters as well?
I say yes to all of that but I guess time will tell, I can’t wait to see what type of projects and innovations will come out of this new initiative but.
