A 26 year old man committed suicide  in San Felipe, northern Chile, while chatting with his former girlfriend through a webcam, police said.

Simon Venegas, affected by a deep depression that caused his emotional breakdown, took the drastic decision to kill himself and broadcast it live via Internet,so his former girlfriend could see it.

The woman, in an attempt to stop the tragedy, alerted Venegas’  friends -also via Internet- for them to stop Simon, but they arrived too late at his house.

According to police investigations, facing the refusal of the woman to resume the relationship, the grieving boy found nothing better to do than pointing the webcam to the ceiling of his room.

Astonished, the young woman watched Venegas as he hung himself in front of the webcam. His only desperate spectator could do nothing to prevent the fatal outcome.

She alerted some of the boy’s friends who live nearby Simon’s house but there was nothing they could do. When they arrived he was already dead.
