Aussie Junk at Mitchell is now Thiess rShop
Posted on September 7, 2009 by by Jonathon Reynolds
I was driving past the Mitchell waste transfer station on the way home this afternoon (Sunday 6th) and I noticed new signage on the shed that was previously used for Aussie Junk.
A detour was made to investigate. It appears that Thiess now operates the recycling facility themselves, as Aussie Junk are no longer trading.
The new operation is quite sparse, clinical and clean compared to the old operation, the yard out the back of the shed is virtually bare and much of the clutter and mess inside the shed has gone. They have a very professional looking “cashiers” desk and it was definitely service with a smile!
I picked up a working 51cm SONY Trinitron Colour TV and remote for my home office for a mere $30.00 (far cheaper than replacing or repairing the 19″ LCD monitor/TV tuner that has recently failed) and it works a treat with my digital Set Top Box. I was genuinely surprised as they had all their televisions all lined up and working on shelves. The unit I purchased has even been electrically test tagged by Popes Electrical, so at least I have some confidence that it is safe to plug in and use.
Next time you are dropping off your waste or out Mitchell way, well worth a look.
