Teenager beaten to death at a Chinese Internet Rehab Clinic

Posted on August 5, 2009 by by valerirojas

Chinese newspaper Xinhuanet has a report of a teenager allegedly beaten to death by counsellors at an Internet addiction rehabilitation clinic in Nanning.

“The 15-year-old middle school graduate, surnamed Deng, was pronounced dead around 3 am Sunday at Wuxu town health centre in Nanning.”

The medical record showed the boy had no pulse or blood pressure when he was taken to the hospital.

“On Saturday afternoon, the boy’s parents took him to the camp – a branch of the Guangzhou Lizhi Training Center for Youth Growth. Teachers in the camp put Deng in confinement and beat him in the evening, the report said.

This has happened after the Chinese government ordered hospitals to stop using electric shock therapy to cure youths of Internet addiction. report

They obviously thought of punching and kicking as the best second solution to help kids with their internet addiction.

I still don’t get it.. I don’t think people need to go to rehab for it, just pack up the computer in a box.

In this day and age it is absolutely disgusting to hear of this happening. Death is never the answer, and the fact that it happened at all should be a serious warning to the public about such institutions. I hope that those responsible for the death are severely punished; a human life is precious and should not be taken. But that’s just my opinion.

what the friggen hell are they doing beating the kids to stop them being addicted to the net and what kind of parents would let the children on the internet for that long if its not academic??? i think its a case of the parents dont want to put their foot down and instead see it as a condition that their wonderfull little angel cannot controll.
