Canberrans will have their say on relocating Islamic School of Canberra to Old Canberra CIT

The ACT Government will start a new Community consultation process with the Canberra community about the possibility of relocating the Islamic School of Canberra to the old CIT site in Weston.
The consultation will begin next month but Chief Minister Jon Stanhope wanted the community to be kept informed at the earliest opportunity that the site was under investigation.
The school has been looking for a new home to allow it to expand to take high school students. It currently caters for more than 100 students from Years K to 6 from premises in Watson.
The school has applied to register for Years 7 and 8 students, but registration is contingent on it finding larger premises.
The ACT Government has been scoping possible sites and the CIT Horticulture School in Weston, which is relocating to Bruce in 2010, has been identified as a possible new home for the Islamic School.
Mr Stanhope said an external consultant would be engaged to conduct the community consultation. Media release
