The ACT Government in partnership with the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) presents – Masterpieces from Paris: Van Gogh, Gauguin, Cezanne and beyond – from 4 December 2009 to 5 April 2010.

“Canberra will be hosting the world premiere of this exhibition which will feature 114 works including masterpieces by Vincent van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Paul Cézanne, Georges Seurat, Pierre Bonnard, Claude Monet, Maurice Denis and Édouard Vuillard.”

“In the current economic climate, with economies across the world feeling the effects of the global downturn, this exhibition will provide a boost to the ACT economy as well as giving locals and visitors a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience this unique exhibition of post-impressionist art,” ACT Chief Minister Mr Stanhope said.  Report

“To further boost tourism the ACT Government will contribute $500,000 to partner with the NGA in presenting this landmark exhibition.”

“This contribution is part of our commitment to invest $5 million over four years towards a major tourism event during autumn and increase the promotion of Canberra in the domestic market.

“Australian Capital Tourism will also implement an extensive partnership marketing campaign for autumn 2010.
