The Victoria government has shown again to other Australian State and Federal Government departments how we can use current web technologies to provide better services to our communities even if sometimes it is kind of gory.

“The Victoria Police Traffic and Transit Safety Department has created an interactive map pinpointing the location of all fatal road accidents across the state this year.” Victoria Road Fatality Map

Each accident is represented by an avatar of a car, motorcycle or pedestrian, signalling the incident type.

Further details of the fatality are available by clicking on the avatar.

Victoria Police reviews each fatality with information from the National Coronial Information System which includes autopsy and toxicology reports.

The Victorian Road Fatalities Map is updated constantly and provides the community with information of the number of deaths on Victorian roads and where they are occurring.
