Twitter and Facebook banned in China
Posted on July 8, 2009 by by Valeri
A new report from Web2Asia is coming out about Twitter and Facebook been banned from most parts of China.
As of today 8pm Chinese time Facebook seems not to be accessible from most parts of China Mainland anymore. On the China Telecom connection of our Shanghai office the service vanished at around 7:45pm. Friends in Hong Kong are reporting that they can still access the website.
After microblogging service Twitter was already inaccessible during the last few days, Facebook now seems to be the latest victim of Chinas rigit media control related to the recent incidents in its north western province.
This is not the first time the Chinese government has banned the popular social networking sites, back in June they blocked internet access to Twitter, Flickr, Bing, Live.com, Hotmail.com, WordPress, YouTube, Blogger and several other sites. Mashable
The good news is there are still plenty of social networking and blogging sites out there where citizens can share their news, opinions and thoughts about current issues in China.

China has been a bad boy lately..
I mean, who would have thought China would arrest someone and hold them for a week without charge or legal representation..
Or ban things from their citizens..
I mean…..who would have thought it?? :O
