UK based manufacturer Cambrionix Limited offers the ultimate solution for users that run out of USB ports on their computer systems.
The Cambrionix Professional-Standard 49-Port USB-2 Test & Development Hub (pdf datasheet) provides 49 powered USB2.0 ports, requires no special drivers and includes a 12 months return to base warranty. The minimum requirements to use this device: One Free Host USB Port and a generic ATX PSU rated at 5V DC, 28 Amps continuous.
Given that the USB standard will support 127 devices per host controller, if you were really eager you could hang two of these hubs off a standard PC system with the ability to add a few devices to spare!
How much will this little wonder set you back? £399 +VAT (that is about AUD $805.00) which equates to about $16.50 per port … but just think… you will never run out of an available (powered) USB port to use!
