Vegemite 3.0 – the new beginning

Posted on June 15, 2009 by by valerirojas

vegemiteAmerican Food Company Kraft has come up with a new flavour for the popular Australian icon “Vegemite”.

This doesn’t mean the good old Vegemite will be removed from supermarkets at all, we will just have another type of Vegemite to choose from. Kraft said

So who came up with it and what does it taste like?

Kraft says it came from a census called the How Do You Like Your Vegemite, where more than 300,000 Australians provided feedback on what they wanted from it and apparentely they came up with this new flavour.

“It’s made to use with dips, carrot sticks, celery sticks — very much the Vegemite for snacking,” said Kraft Foods head of corporate affairs Simon Talbot.

“It’s a milder flavour. It has natural dairy in it. This is Vegemite but it’s different.” The Australian

Some reports are saying it is basically Vegemite with cheese, but wasn’t that done back in the 90′s? the product was called “vegemite singles“, it wasn’t a popular product and didn’t stay around for very long.

As part of the celebrations Kraft is also asking consumers to come up with a name for it by having a competition and the winner will receive a ticket to the AFL grand final, and the first jar with the new name.

The competion will be called “Name Me” and will run for two months following its July 5 release.

Visit their site when you come up with something good www.vegemite.com.au.

I love web applications and technologies so I would personally call it Vegemite 2.0 but we are already moving to web 3.0 so maybe Vegemite 3.0 would be my suggestion. What’s yours?
