New Government web 2.0 Taskforce – Design their banner

Posted on June 22, 2009 by by Valeri

Today Monday 22 June, Lindsay Tanner, Minister for Finance and Deregulation and Joe Ludwig, Special Minister of State and Cabinet Secretary, have launched a new government initiative on ‘government 2.0′ tools and strategies. Taskforce 2.0

The launch was held at the Parlianment House as part of the Public Sphere #2: Government 2.0 event organised by Senator Kate Lundy.

The Taskforce is made up of 15 policy and technical experts and entrepreneurs from government, business, academia, and cultural institutions.

It will be chaired by Dr Nicholas Gruen, the CEO of Lateral Economics, and an economist with wide experience in the public and private sectors.

The Taskforce will advise the Government on how to:

  • make government information more accessible and usable;
  • establish a pro-disclosure culture around non-sensitive public sector information;
  • maximise the extent to which government utilises the views, knowledge and resources of the general community; and
  • build a culture of online innovation within Government to ensure that it is open to the possibilities created by new collaborative technologies, and uses them to advance its ambition to continually improve the way it operates.

Apart from providing advice to the government, the Taskforce will be able to fund initiatives and incentives that will show how the Government can achieve its 2.0 objectives.

Design their Banner

As part of this new Taskforce initiative the government is asking the public to design the Banner for their new website.

“Whilst preparing for the launch of the Taskforce and this website we were looking at a mock up of the site. It looked a little bare. We needed a banner. Then we thought . . . who better to supply the banner than you? So rather than send the job off to the department’s usual designer we thought we’d hold a competition to design a banner for our site, and a logo for the Taskforce.”

There is no prize for the winner, just your pride of having your design and work in a gov 2.0 website. Can’t get any better than that really.

So all graphic and web designers, get to it and come up with your best work ever.

Competition is open until the 3rd of July. for more details visit Taskforce
