ACT Govt continues Skilled migration program in the UK

Posted on June 22, 2009 by by Cristian

The ACT Government will continue its targeted approach to skills attraction by participating in the ‘Australia Needs Skills Expo’ in the UK. Live in Canberra http://www.liveincanberra.com.au/

‘Australia Needs Skills Expo’ is an initiative of the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) to attract professionals and skilled migrants to Australia.

“Our target skills sets for the Expo are a small range of professional occupations including health, engineering and some specific IT skill areas” said the ACT Chief Minister Jon Stanhope

This is a great initiative as it will help our economy but does it mean current ACT public servants will lose their jobs to accommodate “skilled migrants” as previously claimed by some media sources?
