WED – Unite to combat climate change

Posted on May 23, 2009 by by racer

The 5th June is fast approaching -  World Environment day.  The theme is Unite to combat climate change and even though it can seem a bit overwelming at times, as we are constantly told to conserve energy, water and go greener, it is possible to make even 1 change.  I myself like to look at it this way.  If I go greener and cut back on some things, then I’m giving myself that little bit extra money.  And who doesn’t want more of that, eh?  So in the face of a recession why not give yourself a small payrise and check out what you can do to combat climate change.

It’s not all about cutting back. Try doing something extra. Plant a garden. Even if you just get some kitchen herbs growing, it all helps. And from there it’s easy to take the next step and grow some veggies. If you buy fresh herbs and veggies from the supermarket, think about the food miles involved. And the best part is, you get better quality produce for next to no outlay by doing it yourself.

That’s right, growing your own veggies helps you and in a way you are also helping the environment.
