Canberrans aren’t happy people but are happier than these in Sydney

Posted on May 19, 2009 by by valerirojas

Canberrans are not as happy as they used to be and not as optimistic about the future, according to this year’s Eye on Canberra report. Iprime

The full Eye on Canberra report can be found here

The report also says:

  • Canberrans are less likely than other Aussies to lie awake at night worrying about the fortunes of the Australian cricket team.
  • Canberrans love to cook.
  • Women in Canberra are more discontented.
  • And the big one “People in Canberra are happier than those in Sydney”

I often lie awake at night wondering how to mastermind a plan to get rid of that Tasmanian captain we’ve got.

I’d like to know how they worked that women are more discontented … and if women are less content, then how come the population as a whole is more content than those in Sydney? And what are these women more discontented about anyway?

Hmm … maybe I should watch the program. Who has time for television these days, though? I’m too busy cooking and worrying about the cricket … :P

  6. I could tell you lots of things that I’m discontented about, if that would help.

    ;)

However, I expect I’m out on the end of a bell curve somewhere all alone ….

    *sniff*

And therefore fairly unrepresentative of Canberrian women in general.

  7. Loquacity says:

Well, I was thinking that maybe one overly-vocal feminazi female Canberran blogger (ahem) might have been enough to make them think that all women in Canberra were discontented.

But perhaps that’s just my ego talking again …. ;)

As for the bell curve, I suspect I’m somewhere near the same end of it as you are, 99.

  8. Yes, if one is discontented it is far better to be vocal about it, I think! Usually.
