We’re not as open as Canada…

Posted on April 6, 2009 by by Michael de Percy

The Canadian Privacy Commissioner has unveiled a project regarding Deep Packet Inspection of Internet communications: see http://dpi.priv.gc.ca/

This project demonstrates how citizens can be better informed and therefore better able to make decisions about political choices. Unfortunately, these citizen-information projects are, for the most part, simply off the policy radar here in Australia. Why are Australian Governments always so closed-off from their citizens?

That is probably because the government still wants to control us, I also don’t think State and Federal departments have people who understand social networks and the web applications well enough.

    That is my guess :-)

    Anyone else?

I wonder how long we will have to wait for our policies to change?
