Useful browser tools: Readability

As much as I like to think I am ultimately immortal and thus naturally immune from the pitfalls of the natural ageing process, after a particularly long session in front of the screen, I do find that my eyes start to strain on small text in busy web pages.
Readability from arc90 to the rescue.
The thing I like best about this “usability” tool is it doesn’t require the traditional installation and inherent compatibility issues that a plug-in would normally demand. It simply sits in your bookmarks bar as a java applet link, sitting totally dormant until called upon. Whilst Readability isn’t infallible in extracting a text article from a web page, it does a pretty decent job and I do believe my “late night” productivity (especially when attempting to push the concentration envelope) has risen appreciably because of it. Significantly in the last few days Readability has had an update which has further improved its capability.
