Time for the New Media debate
Posted on April 20, 2009 by by madepercy
The digital revolution is on our doorstep, but will the federal government open the door?
I have blogged a bit about the hindrances to a technology-driven, open democracy here: http://tinyurl.com/cggt4g
I would appreciate any views on how we might get the federal government to take the lead in a debate on New Media and the public interest!

Australia will probably wait to see what other countries do, and as you mentioned in your link M http://tinyurl.com/cggt4g the disadvantage is that we will be one step behind as always.
In other countries people are using social networks to be heard, they are using sites such as twitter, facebook and others. The public can do the same here in Australia, I am sure the government will hear about it if there is enough noise from the public/community.

the public can do the same here for now, who knows what we will be able to do after the govts compulsory filter..
to be quite honest, until this filter is forgotten and not part of government policy, I have little interest on what could happen etc…since we will probably never get to see it completely :\

One thing the filter proposal has done is ensure that we are percieved (both by Australians and those outside Australia) as a country that is terminally technologically backwards.
