Before I get interested in chasing and debating esoteric "pie in the sky" issues such as Human Rights, I want to see a plain and simple "Bill of Rights" (similar to that which the United States has) Once we have our basic "Bill of Rights" in place it gives us a solid foundation and basis to work from. There are many things that our Australian Constitution simply fails to guarantee for the individual. Sounds like once again the government is putting the cart ahead of the horse. I would like to see something like the English and German systems implemented. The English system is only as good as it is because legislation was enacted enshrining the right of people with a disability to the equipment and services they need.
