How chocolate can save the planet
Posted on April 24, 2009 by by emd
It’s true, chocolate can save the planet. If it’s organic, the cocoa beans are grown without pesticides that pollute waterways. And fair trade cocoa means no child slavery in picking the beans.
Eco-friendly and fair trade retailer Brindabella Baby has decided that the beginning of a recession is a great time to open a new shop in Canberra. Seriously… choosing eco-friendly and fair trade for your children means a better world for everyone, and it’s often good for the budget too. To celebrate, there’s three special events with an organic fair trade chocolate fountain, gift bags for each attendee, and entertainment:
Get your invites here. All during Fair Trade Fortnight from 2-17 May:
- Monday 4 May 10:30am: book reading with local author David Vernon. His book Men At Birth was awarded Best Non-Fiction Book for 2007 in the 2007 ACT Writing and Publishing Awards.
- Tuesday 5 May 8pm: live music from Canberra acoustic musicians Red Hot Go (Bek and Jess), with finger food catering and celebratory wine.
- Wednesday 6 May 10:30am: book reading with local author Tania McCartney. Riley and the Sleeping Dragon is a beautifully illustrated story about a little boy’s journey of discovery in China.
Please RSVP so I know how many gift bags to prepare!

the cocoa beans are grown without pesticides that pollute waterways that sounds smart to me, I’ll be telling the family and friends about it.
Cheers
