<description>ok, how many births were there in the ACT in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009?

how many children won&#039;t be able to fit into the current govt school scheme, considering the numbers of schools that have been shut?

the backward thinking of this government really makes me angry.

here are the birth numbers from Katy gallagher&#039;s media release, dated april 5, 2008:

There were 905 babies born at our public hospitals in the first quarter of 2007 – 2008, Minister for Health Ms. Katy Gallagher MLA has reported today.

This figure is similar to the 915 babies born at our public hospitals in the same quarter of 2006-07, but is 20% above the 759 births reported at our public hospitals in the first quarter of 2005-06. This demonstrates that the growth in the number of births in the Territory is continuing during 2007-08.

“Out of the 905 births in ACT public hospitals, just over 200 of these were via Caesarian sections,” Ms. Gallagher said.

Early projections would suggest that this year will produce more babies than ever through the ACT public hospital system. Last year there were just over 3,500 babies born in ACT public hospitals.

Note: In 2004-05 (whole of ACT) there were 4945 births in the Territory and in 2005-06 there was a spike in births with 5220 births (an increase of around 6%).
