ACT Health Helps Staff Quit Smoking
Posted on March 30, 2009 by by valerirojas
As mentioned by the ACT Government before from 1 May 2009, smoking at all ACT Health facilities, including in the grounds and car parks, will be banned.
The ACT Health Minister, Katy Gallagher MLA, said the changes meant that smoking would only be permitted at the approved designated outdoor smoking areas on each ACT Health worksite.
Also, all ACT Health staff can now access free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT).
ACT Health will provide an initial eight week course of NRT in the form of patches as well as smoking cessation courses and counseling services.
They will also provide staff members with an additional eight week course if they have difficulty quitting smoking within the initial eight weeks, not extra cost either
